Traveled on a CX A350 Y from HKG to BNE on saturday and I was impressed by the seat: great seat pitch, adjustable headrests and wide IFE screens. And the food was amazing for a 07h55 flight: lunch service with 3 main options and a second one called light meal but it had 2 choices of mains. All in all, it places BA in the back of the charts for seat comfort, IFE and catering unfortunately.

I had to fly to Oz at short notice one xmas a few years ago and CX had the most palatable fare. First time I flew them and it's now my airline of choice when flying there. I've booked during a sale for travel next year and got 4 A350 sectors deliberately. Looking forward to if they ever add an A350 day flight to LHR as I prefer the afternoon arrival in London than the morning ones.

Catering on all sectors is 2 hot meals and on the HKG/LON sector, hot noodle snacks are available. The bread rolls served have always been soft. Really tasty menu choices.

That said, one of the rare BA Y TATL flights I've done, I did manage to sleep, but that was 9 years ago on a 747 iirc. I would not choose to fly a 10 abreast 777 after an experience on EK and one reason why with CX I'm avoiding there's as well. The extra inch of width per seat makes a difference for a comfortable Y flight.
