Based on the numbers presented on the screen and the % advertised if you select prepay, you would assume that prepay would be cheaper. In fact, it's cheaper I find in several instances, if you select the option that says pay at pickup but you wouldn't know it unless you clicked on both options to compare, regardless what it tells you on the initial screen.
Just pointing that out that if you just want the cheapest and are assuming based on what is on the screen, that prepay is the cheaper option--take a second and click on the pay at pickup and you may get a surprise as I have... logically, of course, it makes zero sense--you would think prepay would always be cheaper than pay at pickup. Welcome to the world of playing the roulette wheel of rental car prices, you never know if logic is at work, or negligence in programming.
It's not a big difference of course, just defies logic (and I'm not complaining nor am I calling for an investigation!!!!!!!)
According to what we've been told, the Pay Now rate is only supposed to be shown if it's less than the Pay Later rate. We haven't actually seen the behavior you're describing, but what we suspect is that the applications of coupons and discount codes are probably confusing the algorithm and it's causing the Pay Now rate to be display when it should actually be suppressed. If you can provide an example, we can look into it and escalate if needed. The search url you used and/or screenshots of what you're seeing would be most helpful.
