Some phone agents clearly consider this to be a pain and think all I need to know are the arrival and departure times for origin and destination, not details of what carrier/aircraft/connecting airport etc.
Exactly !
When I start my itinerary and know I have to transit through Schiphol with a connection time of 1 hr or less, I count on the luggage not arriving on the same flights. This usually happens outbound from someplace in Europe/Africa to connect to the morning flights to the US.
I connect on average 20 times a year in AMS and the last time flying from GVA through Schiphol with a 1 hr connection to SFO (KLM) my bags were lost for 12 whole days..( I HATE transiting through CDG and will try to avoid this at all costs.)
Apparently the bags cannot make the connection at Schiphol within the hour. Perhaps there are special baggage security measures in place for flights to the US ?
