This is the best luxury hotel in Tashkent and all of Uzbekistan by default. There are plans for some more luxury hotels in the new Tashkent City free trade financial hub they are building. Owned by the Uzbekistan government and completely gated like a comfortable prison. The metal detectors are the main entrance are for show but they do inspect taxi trunks on the way in.
Room: Regency suite. 70sq metres with proper site doors separating bedroom, bathroom and living area. It's beginning to feel clustrophobic after a week with two people in here and a very small living and working area.
I used a Hyatt Tier suite upgrade for (hoping to get upgraded a category or more) but most Globalists would probably get it with status. I was disappointed to be presented with a $300 per day upsell offer when I asked for the Executive suite. I would think a guest staying 35 days and working out of his room would get a little more space.
05 series suites and anything along 1-4 I don't recommend for light sleepers. There's a loud restaurant about half a block away that starts seriously blasting boomcha music from 10pm most nights. It's a serious nuisance and nothing the hotel can do about it since no noise pollution laws in Uzbekistan.
This suite also has a connecting door that can get noisy with mainland tour guests who decide to move between rooms and talk loudly.
Ask for a suite facing the inner driveway and ballroom to avoid noise. The street leading up to the driveway is deserted and the National Library is across from this view. Quieter but you lose any "views" of a small park and the Timur museum dome.
