Called Retention #, very nice woman Carmen. She did go IN detail about all of the many benefits of this card. Asked me if I did not think the benefits pay for the card itself. LOL Of course, I said yes, but talked about christmas shopping and wanted to know if there were any bonus offers on the card.

She offered to let me pay 1/2 price for the AF in points which would be about 5K points. I declined and asked if there were any ones to accrue points instead. She said no because I had gotten the offer last year.

Looks like they are strict about only offering the bonuses every other year! Will keep the card. Try next year. Spend for last year was $17K.

She also knew that I did now have the Amex Gold card. She could see everything. Feel naked!
