The matter of outbound DL-->KLM connections in AMS being so short

Totally agree. So many outbound (from U.S.) DL/KLM itineraries have short connections in AMS, no "cushion" whatsoever. I'm no airline logistics expert, but why can't this be solved? It doesn't seem like it should be too difficult . . . schedule DL departures to AMS for one hour earlier (and, yes, I know there may be ripple effects for inbound flights, but it seems this ought to be solvable), or collaborate with the friends at KLM to move their mid-morning departure bank later. I much prefer AMS airport over CDG, but itineraries connecting in CDG usually have layovers more on the order of 2 hours, which is perfect (provides a good "cushion", and if I'm on time, it's enough time for a visit to the lounge), so I'll usually opt for CDG rather than AMS, and hope for no labor actions at CDG or with Air France.

Incidentally, about a year ago, I was flying SEA-AMS-KBP (Kiev). Scheduled connection in AMS was 55 minutes. SEA-AMS flight was 25 minutes late. I and about 6 other passengers with the same itinerary raced to the KBP departure gate, where they were still boarding. But, KLM had cancelled us off the flight, assuming we would not make it, and rebooked us on the next departure, which was 8 hours later. Arguments of "well, we're all here, right?" were dismissed by the KLM gate agents with an insincere and cold apology. One of the other 6 affected passengers threw a bit of a fit, and it was a little uncomfortable and cringe-inducing, but in the end, probably thanks to his obnoxiousness, the KLM agents relented and agreed to let us board, though it took about 15 minutes to re-assign seats and such, and our baggage did not make the connection. (And, incidentally, there was a snowstorm in Kiev that day and that later flight KLM wanted to put us on was eventually cancelled).
