When schedule change caused my connection to become illegal, they did not rebook me. Instead, when I looked up the res online, it told it couldn't access it and I should call. When I called, the agent explained that it was now let than 40 min and offered to reroute me through a different city. I asked a few questions, and then he said, "just to be clear, I have your permission to change your reservation". I accepted, and he changed it.

There is another thread where something similar happened to someone else (I can't remember the details) but after some discussion it was received that they wouldn't change it without permission, but the bags would not make it. I'll try to find that thread and link it here.
