A search on the United site shows that we can book 3 business class tickets for 70,000 per person there, and 60,000 on the way back. That does sound like a pretty good price, compared to paying with cash
But the Aer Lingus site shows a business class ticket is 50,000 per person with off peak pricing. I believe United and Aer Linugs are partners, and I can transfer my Chase point to Aer Linuges as well. Can I make this trip happen for 300,000 instead of 390,000?
Thanks!
You are correct that you can move your UR points to Aer Lingus. However, the Aer Lingus points (called Avios) appear only to be redeemable for flights on Aer Lingus, Iberia, and British Airlines. So you would need to fly on one of these three carriers. And there may be (very high) fees with an Aer Lingus redemption - you would need to investigate both your actual cost and flight availability before transferring the miles since once moved, you can't move them back to UR.
United, on the other hand, has very low fees even though they charge more miles. But the same warning applies - make sure that there is availability on the flights that you want to travel on before transferring the miles.
