I'm guessing that if you're in the other quere you're kind of screwed though, because there have been reports of queues well over 1hr, even with the electronic booths for returning ESTAs.

I know what you mean though, particularly if you're travelling at the back of the plane or it's later in the day. I tend to get the morning flights (117 or 175) as they usually work better for my schedule, and it's never seemed busy then, in fact I've been beaten through the airport by people using the non-GE terminals because I've then had to wait for them to open up a desk to check the GE slips!
