Vegas, but not Vegas and Parking?

I'm planning on spending a week or two in the LAS area over the holidays but I'm not that interested in the the Strip/Casinos.
I plan on renting a car and exploring the surrounding area and I anticipate keeping the kind of odd hours that Ansel Adams wanna be photographers tend to keep.

I'd like to be based out of a 4/5 star hotel in the area but I see a lot of controversy/discussion on this board with regard to parking.

With a bit of research the Trump and Wyndham Dessert Blue seem to tick some boxes but then I noticed the Trump was valet parking only and the Wyndham seems to be a timeshare property.
I'm not keen on having to wait on someone to get my car for me at 4am and I really don't want to spend time fending off timeshare sales people.
But more importantly, it means I'm not aware of what I need to be on the lookout for.

What other gotcha's are there with regards to parking/driving/renting a car?
Are hotel parking fees per stay, daily or per entry/exit?

I'd like a comfortable stay where I can come/go as I please without having to rely on anyone.
Does anyone have recommendations for a suitable property?
