In a past job, I handled chargebacks at a hotel. This explanation is the sort of thing you'd see when the hotel doesn't respond. Based on that experience, I'd say
SkiAdcock (and others) are correct in writing that the hotel likely didn't reply to the chargeback.
I also concur with
RobOnLI that this related to the way the Marriott website displays multi-night stays.
