I do about 1 DEN-IAH round trip each month with my two kids, 7&9. When E+ is empty and there are not three seats together in E-, sometimes I’ll call and they’ll move one of the kids to a middle E+ without the charge, but this is a bit of a hassle (primarily because we often book a cheaper ticket at a non-ideal time and do the SDC gamble).
