I do about 1 DEN-IAH round trip each month with my two kids, 7&9. When E+ is empty and there are not three seats together in E-, sometimes I’ll call and they’ll move one of the kids to a middle E+ without the charge, but this is a bit of a hassle (primarily because we often book a cheaper ticket at a non-ideal time and do the SDC gamble). I’m thinking about buying an economy plus subscription and debating between gettting the 8 companions under my account ($899) or having one of the kids get a single subscription ($499). Are there any other ways of accomplishing this? The website won’t let me purchase the 8-companion subscription under my account because I’m Gold and it says “You won't be able to add this subcription to your MileagePlus account because you already have the benefits associated with it.” I presume an agent would allow me to do this over the phone? Thanks for any advice!
