YVMV (Your Value May Vary), but I am buying Y4 tickets across the Pacific as they are no more then twice what the cheapest H ticket is ($2000 SEA-NRT for my dates vs. $1000 for H) and I:

a) save 15K miles each way when upgrading
b) get 150% EQM bonuses
c) have total ticket flexability
d) have A#1 priority within my elite class thanks to fare paid
e) could probably save the 15K miles and score an op-upgrade to C anyway, since SEA-NRT is always heavy in Economy
f) could possibly get op-ugraded from C to F due to fare paid (even as 1P).
