I really do find that people's expectations of air travel (I'm not just talking about the OP) are simply not in line with reality. Air travel is public transportation, not your private jet. I'm trying to imagine someone going on about a bus or train being late for example and saying, 'I am entitled to compensation' or 'my bag came out of the storage area under the bus and it was dirty, that's just unacceptable.'
Nothing is 100% right all the time and yet it seems as though people expect air travel and airlines to be so. Why is that? I am trying to think of where else people have such high expectations of a product they buy and can't think of any. I recently received a 'Recall' letter for a car I own. A part that has turned out to be faulty in some cases and so the manufacturer issues a 'Recall' and changes the part on all vehicles to be on the safe side, not all are faulty, just some but they change them all.
But I have to drive a half hour to my nearest dealer, wait 2 hours while they change it and then drive a half hour back home. That's half a day of my time gone. Do I complain about it and call it 'unacceptable' or do I simply view it as part of the potential inconvenience of owning a car? Why should my expectations of using public transport be so much higher?
