They have to be used on American metal, and (I believe) pull from MileSAAver awards 'U' bucket.
As far as I'm aware, American only has two flights to/from the South Pacific -- LAX-SYD and LAX-AKL (seasonal). Both of these flight have no U availability at any point in the next year. Does this effectively make the BX9B unusable?
Pretty much, just like any other upgrade or award these days. I'm on aflight next Sunday & out of the 2 flights, exactly 1 seat up front is taken. Most MCE seats are open & all but 1 exit row seat are open on both planes. And yet I can't use BXP1's or SWU's for the flight.
And Discount Dougie can't understand why there is a 'premium revenue' problem.
Like I've told all the AA reps who have called me this year feigning concern about my 'travel being down for the year'-they don't give me any reason TO fly AA but are giving me plenty of reasons not to.
