Has anyone successfully used a BX9B? (PlanAhead Business Class Award - Between North America & South Pacific)

They have to be used on American metal, and (I believe) pull from MileSAAver awards 'U' bucket.

As far as I'm aware, American only has two flights to/from the South Pacific -- LAX-SYD and LAX-AKL (seasonal). Both of these flight have no U availability at any point in the next year. Does this effectively make the BX9B unusable?
