had almost exactly the same scenario last month — LATAM flight, scheduled in at 1900; my wife and I originally booked the 2135 LAX-SEA, but when a schedule change “promoted” it to 2025 I opted to switch to the 2330
actual arrival was ~1830, we were through Customs/Immigration by ~1845; called the MVPG desk while we were waiting for bags and got confirmed directly into PC on the 2025 (F was full, but a call after miles had posted got us the 75% Class-of-Service bonus based on the paid fare) — might have even been able to make the 1945 had we not had to check bags (or been able to drop them at TBIT, since LA wasn’t able to check them thru on separate tix)
