Yep the process is no different than waitlisting for a SWU or miles/copay upgrade except you just have to call the Meeting Services line to get on the waitlist.

If it doesn't clear you can cancel the award and redeposit the points, but you have to pay the fee. Otherwise just hang on to it and use it for another flight in the future (before it expires).
