Singapore airport will categorically not be cheaper than most Australian stores. Easier maybe if you want to avoid a search on arrival, but not cheaper.

Mwenenzi, I would like to see you responding that you actually went to your local Coles & Woolworth supermarkets and looked to see if they were selling UK to AUS adapters, not just AUS to UK adapters. You certainly would not find any AUS to N. American adapters here in Canada at our major local supermarkets, only N. American to AUS adapters. I think sometimes people see all the adapters in the 'travel needs' section and ASSUME they sell 'foreign to local' not just 'local to 'foreign'.
It's not remotely common sense - it's a false assumption. UK to Oz adapters are available everywhere over there. In fact, every country I've had to buy adapters in after arriving has had UK to local plugs - often much easier to find than the reverse. Tourists do buy them a lot!
