Following an information exchange meeting with a group of Flight Attendants, social media was buzzing with information about the opening of satellite bases in certain cities. Your AFA leadership, while certainly supportive of the negotiated provision for the establishment of Satellite bases, would have preferred the announcement follow the appropriate notice required under Section 17.D.1. and after having a full mutual understanding of how all of the provisions of the JCBA will apply at satellite bases. The rush to be the first one out with the news is understandable, but there are a number of unanswered questions that must be addressed.

While the United MEC Officers have had preliminary, exploratory discussions on the establishment of satellite bases in cities having large numbers of layovers with equally high commuter concentrations, there are still details of any plan to be discussed. As soon as we have complete information on the establishment of any satellite base, we will be sure to share that with you.
