Bit late to the fray here but as far as I know there are resident discounts for:
- Philippines (Amanpulo)
- Thailand/Laos/Cambodia (all the hotels in these countries, applicable to residents of all the three countries across the destinations - i.e. a Thai resident can use a resident rate to stay at Amantaka/Amansara).
- Indonesia (Indonesia Amans)

You'll have to specifically ask for the resident rate. Proof of residency is required.

In some cases (Bali), it's not actually much cheaper than the special discounted Undiscovered Indonesia rates they now have (approx USD 550/night++ although this will change for next year I believe) and even if cheaper, may include less inclusions - it depends.

Amanpulo used to have an incredible residents rate where if you booked 3 (or 4? I forgot) nights in a treetop casita on the resident rate (ever so slightly cheaper than normal rate) then you got a guaranteed upgrade at the time of booking to the beach casita (except peak seasons). However, the tax on the resident rate used to be much higher (22% vs 10% otherwise). But there were also slight discounts on the internal plane transfers. They've gotten rid of this guaranteed upgrade now and if I'm correct, you can no longer book the beach casita on the resident rate (or they have a separate rate for it).

The Amanpuri one, even in low season, is considerably cheaper - especially if you don't plan on eating every meal at Amanpuri.
