Luckily i have managed to stop a potential emptying of my IHG account.
I received an email saying my details had been updated this morning. I was also making 2 new reservations for new year, and thought it was strange there was chinese characters in my reservation. I just thought it was the buggy IHG website.
But on checking my personal details i noticed my email, address and telephone number had been changed to Hong Kong.
I immediately put back all my own details and changed my PIN.
I did try calling IHG to see what else i could do but after 15 mins explaining to an operator i got cut off. But all she was suggesting was changing my PIN number
My only concern now is the 2 reservations i made this morning the email confirmations have gone to the hackers.
I am wandering if i should also change the email address? But given they now know my IHG number following this hack its probably pointless.
i lost a lot, that IHG recovered, the suggestion from IHG Executive was to commence email with two level security, that i did.
gmail, and others make two step available.
