Find it varies between US and Europe.

In Europe my laptop goes through no probs but the badget bag mormally has a prolonged x-ray, occasionally gets hand-searched, say 10pc of time. In the US the gadget bag normally gets two trips through the x-ray and then hand-search ed 9pc of the time.

What bugs me more is Europe when they hand-search they hand-search. Like lens comes off the camera, every cable and gadget gets taken out, my little torch os tested , they are thorough. This is acroos EU, not airport dependant.

Whilst in US a hand-search is so poitnless.. They will like open up the bag with the SLR, see the camera and just go ok. don't even remove it from it's bag.

The other thing I've noticed is in the EU the person doing the hand-search is either the person from who saw the x-ray, or the two people confer with each other. In the US this happens far less frequently.

Have also been barked at in US for 2 laptops in same tray, except in SEA where they were really nice and just re-arranged them themselves.
