I happen to disagree (no skin in the game, I don't qualify for lounge access). You say someone "who isn't staying with you" but IMO if we are at the same hotel we are on the same trip. As I read the old rule, it wasn't possible to get both room residents PLUS a guest (i.e. a loophole to two guests).
