When did you purchase your S fare? Since as an MVP you purchased an eligible fare for you Elite Status you would have been immediately upgraded if U was available at the time of purchase. If U was not available you would have been be moved directly to the waitlist. There may be others ahead of you or behind you on the waitlist who also purchased eligible fares. Elite Status doesn't change that order, it is based on when you purchased your eligible fare. First onto the waitlist should be the first to be upgraded. All complimentary upgrades, regardless of status should be below you on the waitlist.

You won't see your placement on the waitlist until check-in commences but you should have a good shot at an upgrade as an MVP on a S fare ticket.

Good luck!
