AA operates 2 different business configs on the 772: Zodiac (forward and backwards facing seats) and Super Diamond (all forward facing). For the 37J aircraft the seatmaps are identical in positioning and number of seats, so AA typically loads the Super Diamond config as a placeholder, once the exact aircraft is known 1-2 days before the flight then the seatmap will be updated to show the Zodiac forward/backward config if a Zodiac plane will be operating the flight. So it's entirely possible and likely the seatmap for your flight didn't have those notches until right before the flight.
