CREDIT card company Diners Club has called on Ansett to free-up empty seats for its loyalty program, Global Rewards.
Diners Club has seized upon confirmation from Ansett's administrators earlier this week that on average the airline's flights are only half full.
The company said it was unfortunate that neither Ansett Mark II nor airlines within the Star Alliance network were willing to honour the points.
Diners Club spokesman James Atkins said members have earned the points in good faith and the seats should be made available.
"We've got over 300,000 Diners Club members that have earned points over the years with the global rewards program and a number of them have come up with the suggestion that the administrators should make available those seats given that they're flying a number of planes less than capacity," Mr Atkins told ABC radio.
"We think the administrators could do pretty easily and at a low cost."
