Called Alaska, the agent took a look, said something about my position on the upgrade list (I think she said 4?) and upgraded me.

I probably would have gotten it anyway with that many free seats, but who knows. Certainly if it made it to T-24hr with people checking and and being offered paid upgrades all bets are off.

As always, great phone support from an AS agent.
