A local Quality Inn along the freeway went independent for a while, and is now a CP. It has a meeting room. Their niche is visitors to one of the national laboratories an exit down the interstate, people whose travel agents don't know better and just take whatever offers GSA CONUS rates.
The CP Harrisburg is one of the worst hotels I've stayed at in the last decade. But it has a meeting room.
There is definitely a country-specific expectation about CP. While there are probably some nice CPs in the United States, I won't stay at the chain unless its a 1-night stay at a substantial price discount to other properties.
