I was thinking more along the lines of them deciding that QC offered sufficiently fast checkouts that it wasn't worth fully implementing contactless. However, knowing what we know now about their fight with Visa, it's more likely that they didn't want to pay the higher fees for contactless. Or really, anything running over Visa/MC period.
Also, wasn't Chase Pay support supposed to happen earlier this year?
They hoped to roll it out to 600 stores by the end of this year and they have a total of ~2800 stores. Its still so dumb as others have said before as not everyone has Chase so its pointless as Kroger is leaving out a portion of their customers who don't have Chase. I do agree that Kroger will eventually roll out contactless especially if we see that Target does a more wide rollout of ctls. I'd also be watching for Target on the next MC ctls update and especially that one in SF and locally as well.
