One other place to check out - but SOON - is the AA - or QF - codeshare on FJ (Air Pacific) Tu - Thu - Sa or Su. Connection times vary from convenient (Sunday in NAN) to miserable, but you can often work a stopover in Fiji included... and FJ has a QF codeshare to most Australian destinations, and you might be able to do well buying the trip as two.

But around Christmas, that tends to fill up very quickly (though FJ has been talking about adding flights.) And the high season for divers in Fiji begins in November. Of course, you must purchase the AA codeshare to get all the miles / points, and be careful of which QF fare basis you purchase - you could get 50% - or less! - of the actual miles flown.

Not sure how they are priced this year - last year, it was a decent deal, and on FJ, one can purchase a (not so cheap today US$750) counter upgrade to Tabua Class (a BusinessFirst kind of product with woolly mammoth type seats ontheri LAX - NAN Boeing 747-400 leased in from SQ.)

However, I'm unsure when the best fares are posted for this area. In particular those with AA or Qantas service.

I appreciate your feedback and suggestions.
