Just a suggestion - directed at no-one in particular - but given we are dealing with a new member here, can we perhaps Be Nice and Be Reasonable?
I don't think being "new" is a valid reason for them to be arrogant and dismissive (which I don't doubt for a second is what triggered the, I'd argue tame, responses).
I'm assuming they aren't new to human interaction - the same rules apply here!
