Quick Murray report with a full report to come soon:
- This isn't an ideal location at all for first time Hong Kong visitors, despite being in Central, and certainly not in the summer heat. Regulars to Hong Kong may wish to give it a go to try out something different.
- Really a very, very beautiful looking hotel, being the dreaded "Instagram friendly" but in as nice a way as I can describe it. Hard product is stunning, if at times a little more picturesque than functional
- Facilities and amenities are top notch, especially for a Hong Kong hotel (I think only Peninsula, Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton currently have all the amenities/facilities that The Murray does - pool, gym, spa etc).
- Toto Japanese toilets!
- Rooms are spacious for Hong Kong but go N3 up. Too early to say how maintenance will hold up.
- Service needs improvement if it's going to compete with Upper House, Four Seasons, Peninsula, Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Mandarin Oriental and Ritz-Carlton. With a one night stay, always difficult to say how service was but the warmth factor is not there. Additionally, had several (minor) issues at breakfast that likely wouldn't/shouldn't happen at a luxury hotel. Also had a hilarious conversation with the concierge who was most unhelpful to the point that I just Googled what I wanted and found it.
Didn't really have time to try much food as I'll be going back for that shortly, but the venues are beautiful. I did have breakfast, which was decidedly sub par and for a hotel of its size, also lacking in variety all things considered.
