Sorry to hear - but that is unfortunately quite common. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I seem to remember that Star Alliance awards are usually made available 330 days in advance.
On a general note, it is really worth finding availability online to know exactly which flights you want before calling SK to book - I have had several cases of them saying "no sorry nothing available", but when I tell them to check specific flight numbers and dates, suddenly it is possible
