I'm not making any assumptions about any flyer other than myself. There is no way I'd do a transcon in regular econ. The checked bag thing is more of a convenience.

FWIW, I'd gladly pay that (and more) to travel in comfort. In the VX days I traveled exclusively in F. Some F fares, some paid upgrades, but always in F. But not for the joke that is AS "first class". I've done one paid F fare on AS; never again.
