I did actually
Full avios/tier points for the diversion sector LHRJNB . Flight was delayed 24hrs and operated with the same crew down to JNB as BA9055 the following evening. I managed to AUP onto the following days BA55 and snagged myself another load of Avios and tier points for that sector. In addition to EC261 there were also "ex-gratia service recovery" Avios in my account when I logged on to my account at the hotel without me even asking. This was in the pre-Cruz cutback days. Not sure it would happen now.
