CA: Lax - pek - icn $2100 RT books in R
Just grabbed a Air China Flight over Thanksgiving from LAX to Seoul with a quick stop in Beijing (ICN inbound, GMP out) for $2100 RT (additional discount for using Amex Travel). If you go to the Air China website and look at their fare chart (so easy to navigate) you will see a lot of flights during Nov/Dec pricing out about $2600-$2800 RT from LAX (not sure about other cities).
Pick our flights and if you have Amex Plat call them and book it for about 500 bucks off. (plus get 5x Amex points getting me 20,000+ points on 2 fares at 2100 each). Books into R, which is only 125% if you use United FF but hey, this is not a mileage run and i am still gonna earn. You can probably lay over in Beijing for same price, but i have been. The deals to transit through China are great this year.
