My opinion is that if IAG intends for its new carriers to never join OW, at least they should reciprocate status benefits for BAEC holders (e.g. seats, tier points, baggage allowance, etc.). At a minimum, I don't think Aer Lingus and Level should be allowed in the TATL joint venuture with BA/IB/AA/FI/etc. without offering the same benefits to status holders, though I know this is not necessarily how the real world works.

Yes indeed. Nothing new here. Unfortunately it is a trend that legacies are forming new airlines outside of alliances to avoid recognising benefits. Jetstar, Vueling, Level, Eurowings, Joon, whatever they are called. Doesn't mean we have to like it and certainly we can vote with out feet and wallets as appropriate. I particularly dislike when flying a BA coded VY flight, which is more expensive than the same flight booked directly with the operating carrier, that marketing carrier benefits are partially withheld. Much as I dislike LH, that is who I select for that sector these days as I dislike VY even more. I just hope I do not run out of airlines to use.
