That said, I am not a big fan of babies/children flying in J or F. When they are toddlers I think the risk of disturbance to other fellow travellers is too high, while when they start growing up I think letting them travel premium is not exactly a formative experience as it risk to establish the idea that a lie flat bed and lounges are to be taken for granted.
Premium Economy is the perfect compromise for premium family travel IMO.
In the politest possible terms... just no. As with the majority of the world, I largely fly Y + Y+.
I don't want any babies crying or disrupting my flight, but meh, life happens, i've bought my kids on flights as babies long hail, and i've helped out parents with kids as I understand the stresses.
But don't try and stick every other Business & First Class bound baby down back as well? Why should I suffer twice as many babies, twice as much noise just because you can afford premium classes and I can't?! We have enough stresses down back with no legroom, seats folding back on us, less sleep, poor food, don't try and foist a bunch of additional children on us.
You still get your flat beds, your champagne, edible food, so just take your noise cancelling headphones and suck it up like the rest of us.
OP, i'm very sorry for you. It's a horrible length of time to be stuck feeling uncomfortable, in any cabin. i'm hoping you come out the other end and continue to fly. The only possible reason for downgrading to a lower cabin if you have a baby is if you think you're less likely to enjoy the benefits, the long laidback meals, the time spent enjoying the opulence. It may well be that Business is sufficient for your needs if you have a baby with you. But only you can know that.
