Not quite right about the systems. SPG uses Lightspeed as the PMS primarily in the US and some hotels in Asia. Other SPG hotels all use Opera as the PMS, and MR hotels generally use Opera.
Marsha is the central reservations system of Marriott and this is now what all hotels are being connected to. It is the configuration and customization of Lightspeed and Opera for SPG hotels that is changing so they connect properly to the Marsha system (and others).
Every hotel before and after this change can see the exact level of each customer's loyalty program because there are other systems that allow them to see this. The information is available but it is up to hotels to use it.
