I don't like the self serve drinks, especially in the morning when I want both coffee and orange juice. I also don't like the idea of leaving beverages unattended at the table while I get food. I'm sure it's also cut in to staff tips significantly since the waiters are now basically just busing tables.
Just a note that the self-serve drinks wave has essentially taken over all the second-tier buffets. I have no idea how the service staff is surviving. What are you tipping for when the "service" is reduced to simply busing tables when you're done?
