You don't say where in Texas, but be aware that it is a very large state and distances can be quite far. If you roll up to a Hampton Inn at 9pm expecting a room for the night and it is full, just have a backup plan ready. In some smaller towns there might only be one Hilton property (though in the larger cities there are many), and really not many other hotels either. Perhaps keep an eye on availability for a few days ahead of time and plan accordingly.
Even though it is only about an hour drive, I wouldn't want to do the drive from the Hampton Inn Marble Falls to almost any Austin property late at night, especially if there is fog, and as a first-time driver on that route.
