I also got a new number, too - my existing number prefixed by a 4. mike turnbull's guess that it may have something to do with next year's post-FD/F+ programme sounds very plausible. But that does not excuse the rest of the email ("recently received your application..." indeed!) or inspire confidence in FD's ability to handle (their part of) the merger.
