Therefore, during my walk in I asked the officer explicitly to purge my green card info from the system. He said that technically, he was unable to do that but that shouldn't create an issue.

As you have already guessed, a couple of weeks ago my wife was unable to use her GE because she was required to produce a green card at the border. Most likely, my GE is also useless even though I haven't tried it yet. How do I fix that? I heard there is this magic phone number I have to call exactly at 8 am, is that right?

Hi NikSem,

You need to go back to an enrollment center and make sure that the system has been updated properly. An officer at an enrollment center can remove the green card as your entry document and add your US passport in its place. This will fix the issue. This same issue happened to Mrs. Majuki in January the first time she tried to use a kiosk to reenter the country. One of the first things we did after she got her US citizenship was go to the closest enrollment center to update her information. While the US passport was added, her green card was still in the system. Fortunately, our port of entry had an enrollment center upstairs that was able to correct the issue, and she hasn't had any problems using the kiosks after that.

You can check if it's set up properly by doing the following:
  • Go to the TTP Dashboard.
  • Click on View Membership Information.
  • There should be a Your Citizenship box with UNITED STATES and a gold flag to the left of that.
  • Below that there should be 1 document proving you're a citizen and 1 document proving you may enter the United States. Both of these should be "Passport (UNITED STATES)".
I think in your wife's case (and possibly yours as well) the document proving you may enter the United States might still point to the green card.
