This certainly can’t be the “point” of mobile check-in, but it’s a side benefit that I like.

i know most of these posts are a few months old, but I’d say this is a benefit as it speeds up the process at least for those that have used mobile check in. In OP’s case, if more of the other people in line had used mobile checkin maybe OP wouldn’t have had to wait as long.
