I purchased the economy tickets (seating in premium economy, hopefully a little better) with cash right now as I was nervous about fares going up further during the next week until I get 1K. Hopefully there will be some way to use GPUs or miles to potentially bump our seats up afterwards. We ended up choosing a direct to HND on the 26th, and HND to HNL to SFO on the way back on the 6th.
Makes sense ... a few final thoughts:
- List the SFO-HND with GPUs as soon as the GPUs hit the account, even thought they will be waitlisted - time of waitlisting matters as a tiebreaker
- HND-HNL is served by ANA ... you can use your GPUs on ANA, but you will need to use a separate instrument for HNL-SFO
- HNL-SFO is looking extremely tight already in Business on the 6th with only 1-2 seats available, and I would not expect that flight to clear into business
- Remember as a Premier 1K you can SDC onto another flight TYO-SFO on the way home, potentially direct ... you can also check upgrade space at that time
