Thanks to an offer from American Express, I now have a Privilege Gold Card from Sofitel and have a couple of questions. Firstly, can this card be used to earn points at all hotels in the Accor group (can it be used in Ibis for example) or is it just for use in Sofitel branded hotels? I don't know about Ibis, but Soiftel has its own rewards program, Red Roof Inn (another Accor chain) has its own program, and neither of them works at Motel 6 (which I don't know if it even has a program of its own). So in general, every chain in the Accor group has its own program which is limited to that chain.
I have only used the Red Roof Inn RediCard, and its main claim to fame is that it earns you a very basic free night (the hotel's choice of what type of room you get free) for only about 10 stays. There's not much other benefit.
Of course, Red Roof Inn is more "downscale" than Sofitel so you can't necessarily extrapolate.
