I've had to be in PDX once a month on average over the last year, and I'm constantly surprised at the rates PDX-area SPG/MR hotels are getting, even with corp codes/AAA and such. I, too assumed PDX would be cheaper than the SFBA or LA, but there's a 4PTS out in the 'hood in Gresham that goes for $190/nt sometimes.
It totally depends on the day, later in the work week it gets really pricey. But PDX is a small area, and there aren't many hotels further out. If you want cheap, just go to airport hotels or Beaverton/Hillsboro area. Even cheaper, Vancouver
