Now, on a bottom line basis, I posit that for people like myself, 80%+ of whose flying is on the same route, we really don't care about the number of miles we earn, what we really care about is how many trips we have to take to earn a free one, and how many trips we have to take to earn OWE status. I also assumed that when I'm redeeming AA miles, I would redeem for CX F, which I consider more or less comparable to QR J. Yes, the QR J bed isn't as fluffy as CX F, but the food is much better on QR J, so I call it a wash. Sure, some will say that it's an unfair comparison, but I really don't care for J on CX, AA or JL. I'm not saying that you have to see things the same way that I do, this is just how I feel about things.

And interestingly, regardless of whether I credit to AAdvantage or QRPC, if my paid flying is on QR, it takes roughly 3.6-3.8 trips to get a one-way redemption ticket in J on QR (if I'm crediting to QRPC) or F on CX (if I'm crediting to AAdvantage), and roughly the same number of trips to earn OWE status on each airline.

Other factors: QRPC PLT (OWE) also gives me access to AA Admirals Clubs, saving $450 annually. (Yes, I still do some domestic U.S. travel, too. typically in Y because they're shorter flights.) But AAdvantage gives me the opportunity to redeem for CX F. Unfortunately, however, CX F is far from what it once was.

So I'm now not so sure that I'm going to switch to AAdvantage. My next long trips with paid tickets aren't until February, so I have time. But if award availability continues to improve, I may just stay with QR.

I would be interested in the opinion of others here on FT. Whaddya think?

Evening everyone. I started this thread 10 or days ago mid trip on QR flights as I had sometime on my hands to reflect on my personal situation. I have to say I have really enjoyed reading other members posts and experiences. I have also learnt some valuable insights into FFP and gaining status. SO thanks to all who have participated, the idea of the thread was one to generate discussion and debate on the current PC situation.
having now just requalified for PC gold ( this was my ambition) with my last trip and a few BA eu sectors tagged onto to give me required q points I retain this until Jan 2020. So for me job done . I now have the next few months before I travel again to decide if I switch crediting strategy. Having read all the posts I am mindful to stick with QRPC for the time being in the hope that they realise the degrading of PC is losing them customers and loyalty- perhaps a narrow view on my behalf. I am also hopping that some half decent premium deals reappear too. I still feel that the benefits I have had over the past few years have been excellent ( including 7 upgrades to first on a380 with miles and q credits) as well as all other one world benefits on BA I have used too. MY view and strategy on this may change if QR do leave OW though. I still have a pot of miles to use ( including 150k ) that expire next year which I will try and not lose. Yes the miles are worth than less they were and redemption availability is poor on some routes but I still regard what ever I end up with also a bounus forme t9 travel somewhere at a very discounted rate.
DR HFH was interested to hear your view on switching to crediting to AA Advatage has softened slightly but I can see reasons behind why you and others may still view PC a non viable option going forward. So in essence , for me for the time being I will stay as I am. THanks to other posters I am also accusing a nice pot of avios too through other purchases and schemes which may give me added benefits married to my PC membership or ultimately give me a platform to build on with miles credited from flying QR.
